Understanding tribal engagement begins with knowledge and context. Many natural resource management professionals operate on Native Land, yet not all are familiar with tribal governance. Trainers from the Whitener Group and The Nature Conservancy will present the origins and application of the popular “Indian Country 101” training curriculum, emphasizing the importance of establishing a foundation of knowledge about tribal governments before advancing to more comprehensive partnership and engagement initiatives. The Wildflower Center is a top destination, boasting Texas’ largest collection of native plants in one spot for your viewing pleasure. The Center's mission is to inspire the conservation of native plants through its internationally recognized sustainable gardens, education and outreach programs, and research projects. Enjoy stunning gardens and unique architecture with an expert guide to show you the way. We will also take a guided tour of a prescribed burn site and discuss the role of fire ecology in managing unwanted vegetation on large landscapes, and its impact on increasing plant diversity and wildlife habitat and providing beneficial ecosystem services. | ||

What Does the Registration Fee Include?
Conference & Student Attendees
The ACES registration fee provides full participation in the conference, registration materials, an Early Bird Networking Social on Monday, a Welcome Social on Tuesday, and an afternoon Poster Session Social on Wednesday. A lunch buffet will also be provided on Monday and Tuesday, along with daily morning, mid-day and afternoon coffee breaks throughout the conference as per the agenda.
Guest Fee
The guest fee allows guests 10 years of age and older to attend the Early Bird Networking Social on Monday, a Welcome Social on Tuesday and the afternoon Poster Session Social on Wednesday.
Defer Payment
Federal employees needing to defer payment should select the invoice option when prompted for payment. This will allow you to register your attendance while providing the flexibility to pay by check at a later date. You may also contact OCI at 352-392-5930 with Credit or P-Card information once travel funds are authorized.
Important Note: The fee amount in place at the time payment is received, will apply to the registration. Sorry, no exceptions.
Refund Policy
All refund requests must be received in writing by November 1, 2024. No refunds will be issued after this date. A processing fee of $150.00 will be deducted from all meeting participant refunds, and $50.00 from guest refunds. Email refund requests to Kim Brand at kimmer72@.uflufl.edu.
