This describes the atmosphere when people gather during a National Working Waterfronts & Waterways Symposium.
Symposia attendees are dedicated champions of local working waterfronts and they come from throughout the U.S. (and elsewhere) to share ideas and solutions and to learn about new approaches. They come because waterfront communities, whether rural, urban, recreational, commercial or industrialized, have been subject to economic, technological, ecological, and demographic changes that challenge their continued existence or development.
Please plan to attend the 4th National Working Waterfronts & Waterways Symposium:
- To listen to, learn from, and interact with people from around the country who represent a diversity of working waterfronts, both small and large.
- To learn about local, state and national level initiatives, management approaches and tools to address issues of water access and water dependent industries.
- To help build on a national dialog that grew out of the three previous symposia and has resulted in a National Working Waterfront Network and a Sustainable Working Waterfront Toolkit.
- To help define future research, outreach, education and policy needs for working waterfronts.
- To learn how other communities and industries are resolving their problems.
- To take advantage of ample networking opportunities, including breaks, meal times, ice-breaker and reception.
