Registration Information

This course is being offered exclusively to veterinary students and licensed veterinarians. Registrations will not be accepted otherwise. If you register online and it is later determined you do not fulfill this requirement, your registration fee will be refunded minus the processing fee.

Participation is limited.

This is a 3 credit graduate and professional class offered through the University of Florida. Academic credit may only be granted to UF veterinary students*. Continuing education credit will be offered to licensed veterinarians.


What does the registration fee include?

The registration fee provides each participant access to the educational program.

In-Person Registration Fee

Provides each participant access to the course educational materials including attendance of all lectures in an auditorium, PDF lecture notes as made available by lecturers, virtual facility tours, and the welfare panel. Also included is transportation to and from two field trips and a hands-on sea turtle necropsy lab held at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. Lunches will also be provided on select days during the program, with beverages provided daily. Please note that in-person attendees are responsible for their own travel to Gainesville, Florida, as well as lodging and transportation to UF CVM throughout the course.

Note: UF vet students are required to attend in-person.


Virtual Registration Fee

Provides virtual access to the course educational materials including all lectures, PDF lecture notes as made available by lecturers, in real time, virtual facility tours, and the welfare panel. Although the sea turtle necropsy lab will not offer a real-time virtual component, a pre-recorded sea turtle necropsy video will be available for viewing.

Class Assignment: There will be a required small group project in which virtual participants will be split into groups. Participants will need access to virtual meeting options for the project.


Refund Policy

All refund requests must be sent to Shelby Sowder at msowder@ufl.edu by May 24, 2024. A processing fee of 50% will be deducted from all course attendee refunds. After May 24, no refunds will be issued.
