Merging Crop Modeling and Genetics

Sponsor Information

NSFThere is recognition within the plant research community of the need to link the genotype to the phenotype. Such a linkage can ensure food security in the future by enabling more accurate predictions of agricultural production, a critical point in view of impending climate change, and to facilitate and expedite the development of cultivars adapted to specific environments. Crop simulation models offer a unique opportunity to link the genotype to the phenotype through the incorporation of genetic information (the genotype). The National Science Foundation, recognizing the importance of training to be delivered via this workshop, has provided a grant in support of the workshop. This grant also allows us to provide financial assistance for up to 10 advanced students to participate in this intensive training program. Please join us in thanking NSF for their integral support.
