Primary Categories: Aquatic Pest Control, Forest Pest Control, Right-of-Way Pest Control, Natural Areas Weed Management, Ornamental & Turf, and Public Health.
Secondary Categories: Demonstration & Research.
In order to become a certified applicator in the State of Florida, you must pass the General Standards (CORE) exam and at least one (1) primary category exam, in addition to paying the license fee.
How long will the test take?
Each examination takes approximately one hour to complete, depending on the individual. If time allows, you are permitted to take more than one test.
What other examinations will be offered?
In addition to the General Standards (CORE) examination, examinations are offered in many other primary and secondary categories, which are listed above. Note: If you wish to take a primary or secondary category exam other than those listed, you must request this examination when registering online for the Short Course.
How do I prepare for the exams?
During the Short Course, much of the material that will be covered on the General Standards (CORE) and certain popular category certification exams will be reviewed. Additionally, it is highly recommended that you review the appropriate Pesticide Application Training Manual (available from the UF/IFAS Extension Bookstore) for the categories in which you will be testing. Those who wish to seek additional instruction should plan to attend the Wednesday evening Calibration and Math Review Session. See the agenda for details.
If I attend the Short Course review sessions, is that all that I need to know to pass the exams?
YOU WILL NOT PASS BY SIMPLY ATTENDING THE REVIEW SESSIONS. The exam is derived from the study manuals, and the review sessions will reinforce the content of the study manuals. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU OBTAIN THE STUDY MANUALS AND STUDY PRIOR TO THE EXAMS.
When do I find out if I pass the exam(s)?
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will mail you your score 10-21 days after the exam and provide instructions for applying for your license.
