Pre-Short Course Session

New Dates!

October 27-30, 2020

Registration Information

 COVID-19 Update

The primary mission of the UF IFAS Aquatic Weed Control Short Course is to provide educational opportunities and CEUs for Florida’s licensed pesticide applicators and our number one priority is to make sure everyone is safe. In order to meet these goals, we’re using a number of different strategies to protect sponsors, speakers and attendees while also ensuring that as many attendees as possible have access to the CEU training they need.

This annual event normally takes place live in Coral Springs, but due to COVID-19, the 2020 Short Course will be delivered virtually to remote sites throughout Florida. Most sites will be County Extension Offices and will be hosted by an Extension Agent. Attendees will be assigned to the remote site closest to them to reduce the need for travel. Presentations will be pre-recorded and streamed at the scheduled time, and speakers will participate in a live Q&A session.

All attendees will be required to abide by CDC and UF health and safety guidelines, which include social distancing, personal hygiene, and MANDATORY mask usage at all times. Current State of Florida guidance strongly encourages individuals 65 or older or those with underlying medical conditions (including chronic lung disease, moderate-to-severe asthma, serious heart conditions, immune-compromised status, cancer, diabetes, severe obesity, renal failure and liver disease) to avoid crowds and in-person events at this time. Individuals who have special needs that prohibit the wearing of a face covering but feel they must attend this Short Course should contact Dr. Gettys (lgettys@ufl.edu) to discuss alternative means of participation.

Please Note: Current University regulations prohibit serving food and beverages, so attendees will be responsible for their own meals, drinks and snacks for the duration of the Short Course.

On behalf of,

Lyn Gettys, PhD, Short Course Organizer and UF/IFAS Associate Professor of Agronomy

Kristin Zupancic, Short Course Coordinator UF/IFAS Office of Conferences & Institutes (OCI)

The registration fee provides each attendee access to the educational program and electronic copy of presentations.
