  Exam FAQs:

How long will the test take? Each examination takes approximately one hour to complete, depending on the individual. If time allows, you are permitted to take more than one test. Calculators, for use during the exams, will be issued by exam administrators on a borrow basis prior to the exams.

What other examinations will be offered? In addition to the General Standards (CORE) examination, examinations are offered in many other primary and secondary categories, which are listed below. Note: If you wish to take a primary or secondary category exam other than Aquatic Pest Control, Right-of-Way Pest Control, Natural Area Pest Control, Forest Pest Control or Ornamental and Turf Pest Control you must request this examination when registering on-line.

How do I prepare for the exams? During the short course we will review much of the material that will be covered on the General Standards (CORE) and certain popular category certification exams. Additionally, it is highly recommended that you review the appropriate Pesticide Application Training Manual (available from the IFAS Bookstore) for the categories in which you will be testing.  Those who wish to seek additional instruction should plan to attend the Wednesday evening Calibration and Math Review Session, see the agenda for details.

If I attend the short course review sessions, is that all that I need to know to pass the exams?
. The exam is derived from the study manuals; but, the review sessions will reinforce the content of the study manuals. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU OBTAIN THE STUDY MANUALS AND STUDY PRIOR TO THE EXAMS.

When do I find out if I pass the exam(s)? The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will notify you via email, 10 – 21 days after the exam and provide instructions for applying for your license.
